This Patek Philippe 2551J "Disco Volante" automatic Calatrava is made in 18K yellow gold. The watch measures 36mm in diameter, powered with an 12-600 caliber automatic movement, #766489 / #2609789. The watch is further accompanied with a Patek strap and Patek gold buckle. The dial is original, with the hard enamel signature, and double signed with the Retailer "Gueblin". Essay:
Initially introduced in 1954, the Patek Philippe reference 2551 is powered by the self-winding caliber 12-600AT. The reference was introduced in four case materials with the production discontinued in 1960. The present example from circa 1955 is a 1st series, with factory dial. The case was made by A. Wenger. It is believed that approximately 1,100 pieces were encased in its production span of 7 years. approximately 150 pieces per year.
